Another big name Hollywood star has joined the ranks of the DC Entertainment Universe.
Word has come out of Warner Bros today that DC Entertainment has cast Ewan McGregor as the villain Black Mask for its Birds of Prey movie. It’s no secret that Warner Bros and DC have been eyeing both McGregor and Sharlto Copley (District 9) to take on the role of Black Mask.
Birds of Prey has started to come together quite nicely over the past few months and now that production is gearing up to begin in early 2019, so it can make its scheduled February 2020 release.
Introduced in 1985, Black Mask is a vicious crime lord with a sadistic nature and love of torturing his enemies and, as his name implies, a love for masks. With this background the villain is a perfect fit for the grittier and R-rated DC crime drama that features equally dark characters like Harley Quinn and Huntress as its heroes.
McGregor is a very welcome addition to Birds of Prey and carries a fantastic mix of charisma and menace in his acting skills that are necessary to bring a character the caliber of Black Mask to life and make him a very memorable and compelling villain inside of the DCEU.
The signing of Ewan McGregor to Birds of Prey not only adds another major name to the DC Films roster but truly shows that DC and DC Films is truly a face to be reckoned with in the years to comes.
