Earlier in the week signs went up in Chicago for filming “for the television show GOTHAM CITY,” which led to mass confusion as there is no show by that name.
So what is “Gotham City”? Hmmmm… pic.twitter.com/jqYmnhI49w

It seems that someone in the city offices got confused and it was actually scenes set in Gotham City that are being shot. Marc Guggenheim, who has a long history with the Arrowverse, confirmed that was the case in a tweet.

Of course, this is not the first time Chicago has stood in for Gotham City. Christopher Nolan used the city extensively in his trilogy of Batman films.
This does present an intriguing question, however. Should Batwoman get her own series as is being discussed, will it shoot in Chicago? Typically all of the series shoot in Vancouver, British Columbia, so it would make sense for her solo series to film there as well. We’ll just have to wait and see what The CW decides, but Chicago would definitely be a more expensive shooting situation.
The Elseworlds crossover event will kick off on The Flash on Dec. 9, with Arrow continuing the story on Dec. 10, and Supergirl wrapping everything up on Dec. 11.
