A Peek At The ‘Watchmen’ Movie That Never Was

Watchmen HBO -DC Comics News

Watchmen had a long, twisting journey to movie screens before Zack Snyder’s 2009 version became a reality. The one other take among many that came closest to being shot was to be helmed by direction Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum) and set in a post-9/11 “real world” America.

Now we can finally get a (very rough) glimpse of what Greengrass’s film might have looked like, thanks to a few minutes of test footage. Keep in mind that test footage is just that, a test, and the actors used may or may not have been cast in a final version.

Here’s Iain Glen — currently the subject of comics news as Bruce Wayne on Titans — in the role of Nite Owl/Dan Dreiberg:

From alternating Batman & Green Lantern as childhood Halloween costumes, to getting punched in my adolescent heart by Love & Rockets, to playing convention sidekick to the legendary Len Wein, the comics medium and characters feel like a part of my DNA.
