Paul Dano To Play The Riddler In ‘The Batman’
On the heels of Jonah Hill’s deal with Warner Bros coming to an end and Zoe Kravitz being cast as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, it is now being reported that the studio is ready to make a deal with Paul Dano to play Edward Nygma aka The Riddler in Matt Reeves The Batman.
Dano will become the second actor to play the iconic villain on the big screen as comedian Jim Carrey filled the role in Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever (1995)
Dano is known for his role in Prisoners and is currently filming The Power of the Dog. Â Dano was recently nominated for an Emmy for his role in Escape at Dannemora on Showtime where he appeared alongside Benicio del Toro. Â Dano also wrapped on directing Wildlife for IFC Films starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan.
Matt Reeves (Plant of the Apes) took over director duties on The Batman from Ben Affleck after the star departed the film and the role of Batman following Justice League (2017). Â Affleck’s departure left Reeves with a blank slate for not only his vision on the film but his own choice for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Pre-production on The Batman from Warner Bros and DC Comics is expected to start in early 2020.
The Batman starring Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Zoe Kravitz and Paul Dano; written and directed by Matt Reeves is scheduled for release on June 25, 2021.
