Summary

Sara is still off to Star city leaving Ava in charge again. She comes up with an excellent prediction machine that will help the team find Encores but the team is way more interested in Nate’s scooter. Meanwhile, John’s cancer is killing him quickly so Ray, Gary and Nora try to save him to no avail.

Did I mention Ava was still in charge? What’s the worst that could happen?

Positives

There is a ton of really nicely done, slow motion shots in this show. Since it is a play on Mortal Combat, it makes perfect sense. Nate busts out the Steel, which is not really used enough, so that was good. They really are spending all the money on the Constantine story line, which, by the end of this episode finally merges back in with the full team. That is good news.

Both of the shining stars of this series, Jes Macallan and Maisie Richardson-Sellers get a lot of screen time. Smart move for sure. Adam Tsekham’s Gary is also cranked up to 11. We need that too. I keep thinking about how the show is going to suffer without Ray and I think they are trying to figure out what to do. There is really no one to fill his role, but, there needs to be someone who has hope. If that can be Gary, then that works out well.  Cheers.

Negatives

Sara sits this one out and she is missed. However, The White Canary herself, is the director if this episode so all is forgiven.

Legends of Tomorrow 5x06 Mortal Kahnbat

They had Mick sit this one out as well. That is never good. His one moment was funny, but I suspect Purcell has something else going on. They are really good about that on this show. It is too bad because his jokes are always the best.

Those expecting to see Hellblazer’s Dangerous Habits happening in Legends of Tomorrow 5×06 Mortal Kahnbat will be sad. It didn’t happen. It sort of happened, but it didn’t. It was a nice tease, but ultimately this is a group show not a Hellblazer show. Maybe, down the line, that will come back, but I feel that they spent that all here and it is over now. Too bad.

Verdict

Ultimately, I am a sucker for the Legends, so Legends of Tomorrow 5×06 Mortal Kahnbat is just fine with me. It is not the best episode of the season, in fact, it might be the weakest, but I can’t fault it for not living up to its own high standards. Not everything is going to be perfect.
