“Naomi” Casts Kaci Walfall in Lead and Supporting Characters

Kaci Walfall has joined the DC Universe.

The actress has been cast in the lead of Warners Media’s latest DC adaptation for The CW. Walfall’s body of work includes such hit shows as Persons of Interest, Army Wives, Power, and a recent appearance on Queen Latifah’s The Equalizer.

Joining Walfall in the series are Alexander Wraith (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as tattoo parlor owner Dee, Cranston Johnston (Filthy Rich) as mysterious car lot owner Zumbado, and newcomer Camilla Moreno as Lourdes, a vintage collectibles shop employee who shares Naomi’s obsession with comics and has an unrequited crush on her. This would be Wraith’s second superhero series after S.H.I.E.L.D., having played Agent Anderson for six episodes. Johnston is also known for Wu Assassins and Hap and Leonard. Moreno’s only known other credit is Lost Beyond The Stars.

Spearheaded by former Arrow scribe Jill Blankenship and Ava DuVernay, the project will be proposed for the 2021-222 CW season schedule. It would be the latest DC property for the CW alongside Stargirl and Superman and Lois. Black Lightning and Supergirl are concluding their fourth and sixth season runs, respectively, this year. The Flash, meanwhile, is scheduled to continue to an eighth season. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, meanwhile, is up in the air at the moment. At this point, it is unclear as to whether it will share the same continuity of the other shows. There is currently no scheduled start on production of the pilot. Here is the official synopsis:

Naomi is an effortlessly cool and confident high school student who is the adopted daughter of doting parents. Popular with all the kids in her military town, [she] is unafraid to embrace her AP-student, comic book–loving nerdiness. After a supernatural event leads to the discovery of her powers within, Naomi pursues her hidden destiny.
