Summary
Ryan continues to struggle with her kryptonite infection, meanwhile Mary and Jacob are captured by an insane inmate.
Positives
Batwoman 2×06 continues with Ryan’s body breaking down further due to the kryptonite infection. Over the last few episodes, this infection on her chest has done nothing but spread and continue to get worse. Ryan’s only solution is the rose on Coryana– which is also where apparently Kate is being held captive. I enjoy seeing Ryan’s more vulnerable side this episode, where she has no choice but to admit to Luke that she needs help. I hope they come to terms with working together better in the future. Ryan admits that although she’s Batwoman, she feels like she’s not part of the team with Mary and Luke. Luke is partly responsible for that and I commend him for finally admitting it.
Negatives
My only issue with this episode is with the story of Ocean and Alice. Although there is a hint of a past relationship between the two, I feel like it has no place here. We already have a backstory with Alice in season one, however I feel like they’re giving us another backstory with her in this season as well, which is what we don’t need. I honestly enjoyed the revelations between Mary and Jacob more than any other characters in the episode. It really showed how flawed Jacob is as a father–and apparently at the end of the episode he has no intentions of changing.
Verdict
Batwoman 2×06 was a decent episode. It had a good amount of action and Ryan’s dedication to justice while having the kryptonite infection is admirable. I hope that they make a tie-in to Supergirl or the D.E.O since everything is on Earth Prime now at some point in the series.
