This series has sincerely renewed a lot of my love for the Batman series. It genuinely feels like I am meeting Bruce for the first time. I got the same feeling when watching Batman: The Animated Series for the first time, and then again when watching Batman Beyond. The last comic that excited me this much was Batman: The White Knight series. That is high praise from me.
At the end of Batman: The Detective #3 Bruce found himself being arrested for the murder of Henri Ducard. Let’s dive in to Batman: The Detective #4 and catch up to Bruce.Â
It’s About Equilibrium
Bruce has found himself at Interpol but he is right where he wants to be. He finds out quickly that Ducard is still alive as the officers cite it as an “attempted” murder. The officers grill Bruce and show pictures of the death and chaos Equilibrium has done in her crusade against Batman.Â
But as the questions about his connection as Bruce Wayne to Batman continue, Bruce notices that something is wrong. Very wrong. The officers are not what they seem and they are not after answers but the silence that only death brings…
Positives
There are so many amazing scenes in Batman: The Detective #4 when it comes to emotion. One of my favorites comes later in the issue when Bruce gets a surprise from Alfred. It is a genuinely thoughtful moment of writing and art and is so appreciated.Â
This series has been a genuine joy and I look forward to seeing it unfold.Â
NegativesÂ
Even if I looked hard enough there is nothing I have seen so far that would even sway slightly as a negative.Â
Conclusion
Batman: The Detective #4Â is such an excellent addition to this series with many reveals to happen. Seriously, where DOES he get these toys? Anticipation for more is high and in the next issue we get “Battle In Brussels”. See you then!Â
