Summary
“They said they still need you alive! So remember tonight, because next time I’ll be in charge….and I won’t walk away until you’re dead!” – Carnivore to Gunslinger Spawn Â
Gunslinger Spawn #7- Dealing with the aftermath of the savage battle against the new Clown and Dakota, Gunslinger finds himself on the run yet again—this time from a mysterious new enemy! Enter Carnivore! Â
Positives
Frankenstein and the Wolfman enter Brett Booth’s art studio and out emerges Carnivore. I cannot wait to get more on the backstory here as this stitched together Wolfcreature may be the death of Gunslinger Spawn! Â
It is very evident in the writing and art that Gunslinger Spawn has almost eclipsed Spawn in terms of effort, writing, and fun! Javi/Gunslinger Spawn is new…fresh…weaker… and appears with both an innocence to his new surroundings and a drive for what is right. Â
I am sure that he has his own “Wanda” (see Spawn Issue #1), but for now, enjoy Javi making his way in 2022 with an 1800’s attitude. McFarlane writes this character with new and infused energy. And Gunslinger’s Rogues Gallery not only includes a new Clown/Violator presence but has expanded quite richly with Dakota and Carnivore.
Again, McFarlane is clearly having fun with this new character and when he inserts She-Spawn into this mix as he does in this issue…this is quite the dynamic duo right now in comics!
Positives 2.0
Brett Booth’s pens and
Negatives
That is the sound of tumbleweeds you hear…no negatives as this issue has the art, humor and battles that are the necessary components of a great comic story!
Verdict
Read the First Issue of Gunslinger Spawn Online  Issue #7 arguably puts the current Scorched and Spawn timelines at risk in terms of Javi searching for Al Simmons. However, we are in the infancy of reading a book that is going to be around for a LONG LONG time! To borrow a phrase from long ago… Make Mine Image… Make Mine All Things Spawn!
