Summary

My Adventures With Superman 2×04 – Jimmy gets invited to the S.T.A.R. Labs Symposium and Clark joins him for support, but Lex Luthor takes over; meanwhile, the General flees and Lois chases after him, struggling to reconcile past experiences with the present situation.

Positives

This episode starts with Clark and Jimmy visiting the S.T.A.R. Labs Symposium, where the two also meet scientist Lex Luthor. What starts out as a friendly discussion, soon turns into a heated debate between Lex and Jimmy about the usefulness of Superman. With Clark listening in from the crowd, it’s apparent that he soon feels doubt in himself. I had to admire Lex in this scene, taking his opportunity to meet an excited Jimmy Olsen and twist it to his advantage, and having the crowd turn on Jimmy — and Superman.

Meanwhile, across the city, Lois is once again attempting to connect with her father, Sam Lane. Sam, who is now staying with Clark Kent, confesses to Lois that he plans on leaving the city. Throughout this episode we see flashbacks of Lois and her father when she was a child. I liked that we got to see these moments because it gives you a little more backstory on Lois and her character, while also giving you a more in-depth look at Sam Lane’s character and what he believes in.

Negatives

I had no complaints about this episode.

Verdict

My Adventures With Superman 2×04 was a great episode that held plenty of surprises. The biggest takeaway for me was Jimmy’s realization that he was the one that encouraged Lex Luthor in the first place. The look on Jimmy’s face was one of shock, and he probably feels he’s partially responsible for setting things in motion between Superman and Lex.
