It seems that Morena Baccarin is interested in playing not one, but two different Batman villains in the DC movie universe. There’s no shortage of DC-related projects at Warner Bros right now. Though many of them may not be produced, the studio still needs to cast many roles. In the next few years characters in Birds of Prey, The Flash, The Batman, and others will be available.
The search for Batman’s supporting characters in films brings plenty of prominent female characters and someone well-versed in superhero content is interested in getting involved.
In an interview, Morena Baccarin was asked if she wants to play a superhero on the big screen. After a role in Deadpool and her role in Gotham, she’s very familiar with comic book properties. However, she says she’s not too interested in being the hero but rather has her eyes on a few classic Batman foes. Translated from Portuguese, Baccarin says, “I identify more with the villains, Poison Ivy and Catwoman.”
If Baccarin is seriously interested, this all might be possible since WB is working on several Harley Quinn-related projects that will see Margot Robbie reprise her role as the Batman villain. Though it seems that Birds of Prey has become a priority, there’s still a chance that either Catwoman or Poison Ivy will be included in the film. If they don’t join the DCEU in that movie, then it could happen in Gotham City Sirens, Suicide Squad 2, or even The Batman.
If Warner Bros. decided to introduce either of these characters, then Baccarin will surely have competition for either role. Mad Max: Fury Road‘s Riley Keough previously expressed interest in Poison Ivy, and Aubrey Plaza has long wanted to play Catwoman. Those are just two of many actresses that could be considered for these roles. Baccarin’s previous comic book movie role shouldn’t take her out of the race either. Whether or not she winds up securing one of these roles, there are plenty of other parts out there for her.
