Warner Bros are continuing to evolve their live action DC products on the big screen. This has been made ever more apparent after the studio recently hired a writer for a Plastic Man film.
Plastic Man is a very interesting choice for a live action film as the tone of the comic book has always been very goofy and light, almost child-like, so the choice for a writer had to be made with a strict criteria in mind. Warner Bros choice? Amanda Idoko, writer of the upcoming Breaking News in Yuba County.
Not many outside of the very deeply initiated readers of the DC Universe are familiar with Plastic Man who made his debut in Quality Comics in 1941 until DC got the rights to the character in 1956. A former criminal turned crime fighter, Patrick “Eel” O’Brien who was exposed to a chemical that allows him to stretch and move his body in any shape.
No other connections to the project have been made and with Idoko’s other film only in pre-production a timeline for the project is still very far off but with Warner Bros creating mainstream, to darker and now lighter superhero films there is no doubt that the future of Warner Bros Pictures is full of heroes in capes.
