Summary

In Moonshine #26, thing were heating up towards an all out war. Now, in this new issue, there is so much going on, effecting all sides immensely.  The Don has entered the fray, Joe and Lou are speaking, and Tempest is dealing with enough all on her own. So, let’s just dive in

This Was Avoidable

Moonshine #27 starts off with a gunfight as Don Maranzano makes his move against Boss Joe, but he is not the only one as Holt’s gang arrives too. Tempest becomes enraged, showing her true form, but is injured in the crossfire. The Holts get her out to safety, but she is hurt badly, taking a lot of lead.  Meanwhile, Charlie is making the most of the chaos, going, once again, to the Don and trying to make a deal for himself. The Don is only too happy to see him and add Charlie to his team.

Boss Joe and Lou however are having the most interesting conversation before Charlie shows back up.  Joe and Charlie address what needs to happen first and the Holt gang pop to the top of that list, but Joe finds out from Lou just who Tempest is.  Delia is crafting her own magic and Lou finds himself on the tail end of Hiram’s gun…but by chance he isn’t alone in facing the silver bullet. It remains to be seen who will be left standing on the cliff’s ledge.

Positives

There is so much nitty gritty action in Moonshine #27. Eduardo Risso displays some of the most amazing sequences and Brian Azzarello continues to impress with his writing. The Prohibition period genuinely comes to life in this series, but I am ready to see what will happen as a result of this war.

Some of my favorite scenes have been of Tempest as a lounge singer, the color choices are perfection and I love the way she is brought to life. You can almost smell the smoke and the clinking of glasses. It is always an enjoyable experience.

Negatives

The forever wait for the finale of this arc? That is really it.

Verdict

The action that Moonshine #27 brings will hold until the next issue releases. This series arc is hitting its stride and if you aren’t up to date, now is the time to do so.
