It’s been nearly 5 years since the passing of Heath Ledger. His final role in The Dark Knight as the Joker is arguably the best portrayal of the character to date so much so that it is speculated that his engrossment into the Clown Prince of Crime may have had some influence on his untimely death. Until recently, fans could only speculate just how far he’d taken himself into the character. That is, until the release of, “The Joker Journal.”
In the German documentary, “Too Young To Die,” Ledger’s father, Kim gives us a peek into just how deeply in the role Heath had become. Revealing that inspiration for this Joker came from places like Malcom McDowell’s character in A Clockwork Orange, as well as experiences from Heath’s own life,” ‘The hospital scene is interesting because when he was a kid, his sister Kate liked to dress him up as a nurse,” Kim said.
In the following video you can watch a sample of the documentary, “Too Young To Die,” I would suggest turning on the closed captions unless you speak German. Though it is a short clip it is truly very haunting.
Before the end of the shooting he wrote ”bye bye” on the back of the page. Â ‘It was hard to see this.’Â his father said.
