Hey guys, Darius here, bringing to you my review of SMALLVILLE: LANTERN #11. In this issue, we find Superman and the others fighting against Parallax’s minions and John Stewart regains his Green Lantern will. This is the second to last issue of the “Lantern” miniseries. Let us get right into it with the Positives and Negatives of this issue.

Positives

  • I love the action within the issue. We got Superman fighting John Stewart being controlled by Parallax’s yellow ring, We got Batman fighting one of Parallax’s minions, we even have Green Arrow getting in on the action. So if you guys want action, it is tons of it.
  • I love the artwork done by Ig Guara, Le Beau L. Underwood, and Carrie Strachan. Together, these three brings the action to life and brings out the emotions that each character is feeling perfectly.
  • Speaking of emotions and feelings, this issue contains a nice amount of it. As Superman and John Stewart were battling, I love how Superman was defining the essence having fear is to use it as power, but not the kind of power that the yellow rings contain. The power Superman was referring to is the power to use your fear to fight when the battle is tough, to protect the ones you care about, that is the true power of fear. I love it when comics get philosophical because I get drawn into it a lot more.

Smallville 11-5

Negatives

  • Some of the scenes get convoluted with too much action. In some scenes, I would get confused on what is going on because the scenes would jump to too many different point of views at a time.
  • It is a very fast-paced issue. It was so fast-paced that I reached the end of the issue without knowing it. The flow of the issue should have been a bit slowed down, not too slow where the scenes drag on, but to an extent where the reader finishes the issue in record time.

Verdict

Overall, I recommend the issue because it is action-packed, a little bit too much action at certain points though. It is the second to last issue of this arc so it is best to finish strong by reading the #10, this current issue, and the finale issue #12.
