With the release of his new film Birdman (not be confused with the Hanna-Barbera character of the same name), Michael Keaton has said he would only return to the role of Batman if the director was Tim Burton. Keaton admires the dual personalities between Bruce Wayne and Batman, and says that is what drew him to the character.
“It was never about Batman for me. It was always about Bruce Wayne,” Keaton tells Entertainment Weekly. “He’s funny! He’s screwed-up!”
Although heavily involved with the character, Keaton admits he has yet to watch any of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight movies. He feels that Tim Burton captures the Batman genre better than anyone, due to his gothic style of moviemaking.
