Having recently got the part of Amanda Waller, in DC’s upcoming 2016 Suicide Squad movie, How to Get Away with Murder star Viola Davis spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about what the role means to her.
“As a comic book and Wonder Woman fan, I love the whole DC Comics universe. I traded comic books as a kid so all of that appeals to me. When you dream about being an actor as a kid, that’s what you dream about. That’s like play acting: being the superhero, getting the gun; it plays into that fantasy.”
Davis said her role on How to Get Away with Murder has boosted her popularity and calls Waller a “fabulous character.” Other notable actresses to have portrayed Amanda Waller include Cynthia Addai-Robinson currently in the role on Arrow, Angela Bassett in the live-action Green Lantern film starring Ryan Reynolds, and voice actress CCH Pounder in the animated series Justice League Unlimited as well as two DC animated original movies.
