DC has been going along a bumpy road regarding it’s cinematic universe. Although Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman were box office hits they were less than wonderful according to critics. With Justice League and Wonder Woman coming out this year most seem to think there’s a nice upward slope for the DCEU.
Director Patty Jenkins recently interviewed with Screen Rant about Wonder Woman and she revealed that there are sequels already planned for the Amazon warrior:
“[There are] many, many things I can’t wait to do with her. She’s got a lot of shades that I really really like. I think whatever we get to do with her in the future, the great thing is this is the way to start.”
Either way the heroine has big plans for 2017 with her own WWI-era solo movie and then starring alongside the likes of Batman, Superman, and Aquaman in Justice League. Past attempts at a solo Wonder Woman film/TV show have been pretty big flops and not well received by audiences. Hopefully this film will put an end to that and put not only Diana back on the map, but the DCEU as well. We fans can’t take any more disappointment DC! But we’ll see what happens on the big day.
Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, opens June 2nd, 2017.
