Last year’s Arrowverse crossover, titled “Invasion!” was definitely a highlight for the CW superhero shows. But one thing that it lacked was a proper inclusion of the Supergirl episode of the crossover. The only part of her episode that tied into the overall story was the very ending, which was a disappointment for many viewers. But it looks like the plan for this season’s crossover will be to give more inclusion to Supergirl.
Arrow star Stephen Amell promises this year’s crossover will be bigger and better than ever before. As production gets underway on The CW corner of the DC universe — which currently consists of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow — and the network rolls out its plans for San Diego Comic-Con later this month, Amell has been commenting not only on what will become of Oliver Queen’s world as Arrow moves into season 6, but how all four shows will connect for their now annual superhero get together.
“I think that the whole idea is that after the success of last year, we tone it down, and not include all the shows and just kind of make it as pedestrian as possible. Or the exact opposite of that!”
Amell also confirmed that one of the biggest criticisms of last year’s event would be corrected this year, as the Supergirl series will play a much more integral role.
“I think the idea this year, from what I understand is, last year they said four-night crossover but in a lot of ways, Supergirl was just kind of a lead in to The Flash, so I think this year they really want to get everyone involved. It’s not going to be a four-night, well I guess four-night, but Legends and Flash are on the same night. I think they want to get everyone involved in every show. I like having the anchor, we have the anchor this year, Thursday night.”
The CW/DC shows return this October.
