The TITANS origin story is taking shape for the live action premiere of the new series set to launch the DC Comics streaming service and it sounds like all hell may be breaking loose!

When DC Entertainment announced plans to launch its own streaming service or original and repurposed content, it was immediately suggested that television producer Greg Berlanti, who helped turn The CW primetime landscape into a facsimile of what audience might expect from a “DC TV” service, would be creating an Original Series to help launch the new and highly anticipated network.

With the Titans television project based on the popular “The New Teen Titans” comic book having fallen out of favor with cabler TNT while in pre-production, Berlanti and his production team jumped on the opportunity to resuscitate the series. Now in full development for a premiere season it has been cast and it center around the adventures of Dick Grayson as Nightwing (a role cast by Brendon Thwaites), leading a familiar iteration of the team.

The Original Series will include many of the most favorite faces from the popular comic book line-up from the 1980s series that was rebooted by comics legends Marv Wolfman and George PĂ©rez and continued the adventures of a more grown-up group of one-time side kicks from the Silver Age. Many of those more modern-era characters will be realized for the new series and include Starfire, Beast Boy and Raven. Who will also be joined by Hawk and Dove.

All the major players on the team have been cast and now rumors are circulating as to who will be cast in the roles to portray a major villain. Speculation around a particular casting announcement suggests that the pilot episode may delve into the origins of the Titans own Raven, played by Teagan Croft who will be bringing Rachel Roth’s daddy issues to the small screen. Raven as we well aware in the daughter of the netherworld demon known as Trigon!

Trigon seeks to inhabit the earth and promises to unleash a reign of terror through the work of his sinister agents, among them his own daughter, who will turn out to become one of his greatest adversaries. The casting note reads that an “Acolyte” — Male. African-American 40-50 — is chasing after Rachel is seeking to use her powers. It also details the fact that the acolyte murders Rachel’s adoptive mother, Angela. Obviously Titans will pattern the origins of the comic series.

Titans is set to premiere in 2018 and be among one of the cornerstones of Original Programming that will also include a new season of the animated hit Young Justice and still more as yet unannounced all-new DC related content.
