Summary
Luthor is bringing the war to the Garage, so they need allies. Barda rides out in search of rebel news radio station The Frequency, where she hopes to enlist Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen in bringing down the Garden. And when Kendra Blackhawk hears their call for help, she’ll have to make a hard decision about where home is.
Positives
This was an interesting issue. It’s split into two separate stories – one about Barda’s attempt to recruit Lois Lane into the fight against Luthor, and one introducing Kendra Blackhawk. Both stories were great to read. I was captivated by the introduction of these new characters and by the thought of what they could ultimately bring to the overall arc.
Lois and Jimmy are so different, yet so the same in this world. She’s a strong-willed woman who defends her beliefs tooth-and-nail, even if, at times, she’s wrong. And seeing hers and Jimmy’s back story was heartbreaking. To see what Luthor had done, and how it cost Jimmy his legs is something that hooked me right away.
And the story with Kendra was fascinating. I love how this series takes characters that you know and love, and flips them on their heads. Taking someone like Hawkgirl, and making her a member of the Blackhawks was ingenious. I think she will be a great addition to the Garage once she gets there. Let’s get this fight started!!
Negatives
Honestly, this was a great issue. I loved just about everything about it. The only thing I can say as a negative is that it was a tad slow at first, but picked up and finished strong.
Verdict
Another incredibly solid issue of Gotham City Garage. Now, let’s get to this fight!!!
