Batman, Arkham Knight

The final installment in the “Arkham” saga is set to release this fall. (Though, you may remember the rumor that it was to be delayed until next year, but that was brushed under the rug.) And in anticipation for that, there have been lots of interesting screenies coming through.

Several new screenshots have been posted onto the official Arkham Facebook page.

This one features Batman in the Chinatown section of North Gotham. Behind him you can see a hotel, neon lights, and other buildings with Chinese characters plastered on them.

“Well look who’s too late to save the day. How’s it going, Bat-brain? It’s been a while. ” – Harley Quinn

As this image clearly shows, it’s Harley, in an amalgam of her “Asylum” and “City” outfits, holding a bat and a pistol. This image could possibly precede a battle of some sort between her and Batman. For those that have played “Arkham City”, you’ll know that Harley *SPOILER* blames Batman for the death of her main squeeze, The Joker.

The Riddler is up to his usual riddles, but this time players get help from the Batmobile. While not much can be deciphered from the image itself, as to what the challenge actually is, we can assume it probably has to do with the water in the lower left corner.

There’s also another image of the Batmobile in action. From what I can gather, that particular image is the aftermath of the Batmobile blasting through a barricade of vehicles.

In addition to the screenshots, some minor details were given about the creation of Arkham Knight, the main villain. This info was given by producer Dax Ginn:

“Combat is such a significant part of the game for us, so we wanted a villain that could really challenge him very physically, so the Arkham Knight was conceived with that gameplay idea in mind. The first thing we did with him was to develop what’s his role in the story, how does he genuinely challenge Batman in a way that he’s never been challenged before, and then we pitched all of that to DC comics and then collaborated with them on the look of him and to design his aesthetic so that it’s representative of the function and purpose that he fulfils in the game.”

“Batman: Arkham Knight” is slated to release October 14, 2014 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
