Last week we reported that DC had teased a new Batman animated series at the Licencing Expo.  This news came in the form of a banner with the new Batman Unlimited logo and an image of what this Batman would look like.

It is now being reported that this will in fact not be an animated series, but a direct-to-DVD movie, much like the recently released JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time.  This looks to be the beginning of a new line of DC animated films separate from the DCUA Original Movies line released by Warner Premiere.

The banner suggests that the film will be based on the recent action figure series released by Mattel, commonly known as “Batman Power Attack”.  And even though the toy line doesn’t use the word “Unlimited” in its title, it does utilize the same Batman logo on the packaging and on Batman’s chest.

We’ve seen several characters emerge from this toy line including Batman, Robin, Superman, Flash, Deathstroke, Scarecrow, Killer Croc, Two-Face, Bane, Mr. Freeze, and The Joker.  This is an impressive list of heroes and villains for this film, if we are to believe that they will all appear.

No release date has been given for this film yet.  Stayed tuned to DC Comics News for more updates as they come.
