TV Guide has reported that Robbie Amell will be joining the cast of CW’s new show “The Flash” as the DC Comic book character Ronnie Raymond, better known as one-half of superhero Firestorm. “The Flash” interpretation of this character is a maintenance worker and the fiance of Danielle Panabaker’s character, Dr. Caitlin Snow, who in the comics is better known as villain Killer Frost. Frost is also one of Firestorm’s most dangerous villains with the power to freeze anything and only being able to warm herself by stealing heat of other living beings.
Amell has starred in “The Tomorrow People” on the CW and is the real-life cousin of Stephen Amell, the titular character of the hit show “Arrow.” Also to Amell’s credit are roles in the ABC hit drama “Revenge” and the short-lived NBC sitcom “1600 Penn” along with a currently filming indie film titled “Max”
“Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg and myself designed the pilot and series to include Ronnie (aka Firestorm) — and to actually have someone with Robbie’s talent playing the role is beyond exciting,” the executive producer of “The Flash,” Greg Berlanti said in a statement. “We can’t wait for viewers and fans of the character to check it out.”
“I’m so excited to join forces with Greg Berlanti and The CW again on ‘The Flash,’” Amell said. “Being brought into the DC Universe is a dream, I can’t wait to get started!” There has been no word yet about whether or not he will cross over into “The Flash’s” sister show “Arrow” or him working with his cousin Stephen Amell about the news of them both portraying super heroes in the new DC Television Universe.
“The Flash” will debut this fall with Amell appearing in the third episode on the CW alongside “Arrow” in the DC fall lineup of television shows.
