Is Oliver Queen really dead? Last we saw, Ra’s al Ghul kicked him off a snowtop mountain after delivering a seemingly fatal wound. Oliver survived the climb, but will he survive the fall? While Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim kept a tight lip on the matter, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he did mention that in the wake of the Arrow’s absence, Roy Harper will be stepping up as Starling City’s sole archer.

“One of the things I was very straight with Colton [Haynes] about is I don’t think we serviced his character quite as much as we would have liked in the first half of the season. I’ll say the stuff that he’s got in episodes 10, 11, and 12, it’s pretty danggangbusters. There’s one scene in episode 11 between him and John Barrowman that I think is some of his finest work on the show.”

Roy won’t be the only one stepping up to fill Oliver’s quiver. According to showrunner Andrew Kreisberg, Arrow‘s tenth, eleventh and twelfth episodes of the season will focus on Laurel Lance’s transformation into Black Canary.

As comic book fans know all too well that until we see a body, there’s still hope. Arrow returns January 21, 2015 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the CW. Watch the trailer for the upcoming episode below:
