There have been quite a few Batman villains to appear in Arrow so far. Ra’s Al Ghul was the big bad this past season. Deathstroke was the main villain during season two. Deadshot has also been featured. Could the main squeeze of Batman’s arch nemesis be next? Harley Quinn has been a fan-favorite comic character, beloved by many. The character made a surprise cameo in season 2 episode, “Suicide Squad” and featured in a small deleted scene from the episode “Unthinkable.” Could she now have a big role in the show’s fourth season?
Willa Holland, who portrays Thea Queen, Oliver’s sister on the show, has also anticipated the eventual debut of Harley Quinn to the show. According to Holland, the network originally had big plans for the character, but their ideas were shut down due to the anticipation of the upcoming 2016, Suicide Squad movie.
“And then something must have come down from DC or some higher up that said, ‘no, you must cease and desist because we’re going to make it into a movie and we can’t have anybody spoil that idea,'” said Holland. Don’t get your hopes up, Harley fans, because Holland says it’s unlikely for her to appear in the show at this point.
What are your thoughts? Are you bummed that Harley probably won’t appear, or do you think it’s for the best and show already has too many Batman villains as it is without the Dark Knight himself? Let us know in the comments.
