Previously this year, DC Entertainment announced that the DC Super Friends toy line, inspired by the Fisher-Price Imaginext action figures and play sets, would become a series of 15 three-minute animated shorts.

The series appears to take its inspiration from the animated series The Super Friends, a popular staple of Saturday Morning Cartoons from 1973 to 1986. The original television series was produced by Hanna-Barbera and featured members of the Justice League of America and associated characters appearing in DC Comics.

A comic book series, based on the DC Super Friends toy line, and direct-to-video original animated feature called The Joker’s Playhouse was developed as a tie-in to the toy line in 2010. The video featured a rendition of The World’s Greatest Super Friends theme, several villains from the Legion of Doom, and the Super Friends and their Hall of Justice.

All 15 episodes of DC Super Friends are now available to watch online at DCKids.com or the DC Kids YouTube channel.
