Three’s a crowd and this crowd is definitely the right one. It was announced today that FOX is adding another DC Comics show starring Jefferson Pierce, AKA Black Lightning.

Superhero series’ veterans Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter are executive producers on the project, while Salim and Mara Brock Akil handle the writing for the television adaptation of the comic.

Should the pilot become a series, it will follow Jefferson Pierce, a character who made his choice years ago to hang up his suit and secret identity. However, his hell-bent on justice, star student daughter being recruited into a local gang pulls him back into the vigilante game as the DC Comics hero: Black Lightning.

Black Lightning joins FOX alongside Gotham and Lucifer, both of which are DC titles. For Berlanti and Schechter, Black Lightning is among the many DC Television series’ they are currently producing, which include Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

No premiere date has been revealed at this time. But with Lucifer returning for its second season in less than two weeks night, and Gotham for its third the following Monday, it’s very possible some information will become available soon. And when it does, DCN will be right here with the latest updates!
