IT’S BACK.

One of the most beloved DC animated projects of all time, Young Justice is finally set to return for its elusive third season.

The news was broken by voice actor Khary Payton on his twitter. Payton brought Aqualad to life in the past seasons of the show (He also plays the excellent King Ezekel in AMC’s The Walking Dead, just in case you didn’t know).

Payton whipped fans into frenzy with a simple pic of his Aquarian hero and a vow to “start once more for the fallen…”

The news is definitely welcome to the fans, who have been desperate for a third season since the show was placed on hiatus after its second. “The affection that fans have had for Young Justice, and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us,” said Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series.

Payton is of course, not the only original cast member to return. Because they ALL came back! That means Nolan North as Superboy, Jesse McCartney as Dick Grayson, Danica McKellar as M’gann M’orzz, Stephanie Lemelin as Artemis (ooh the implications of her return) and Jason Spisak as Wally West. The cast will be joined by original producing and creative due Brandon Viette (Batman: Under the Red Hood) and Greg Weisman (Star Wars Rebels).

So with everything is in place for the show’s return; the original cast and producers, a pledge of network support and the unwavering fandom. Now we just have to wait for a release date, and beyond that we’ll have to hope the reality will live up to the expectation.

Which it will, because it’s Young Justice.
