The weekend of Saturday May 27th and Sunday May 28th saw the first ever Heroes & Villains FanFest event ever held outside of the U.S.A.
DC Comics News attended the event, which was hosted at the world renowned London Kensington Olympia.
The convention was created by Stephen Amell, star of Arrow, and James Frazier, the brains behind the famed horror convention Walker Stalker Con back in 2015. The show grew and proved successful enough to warrant being taken overseas. The London event was one of the best of its kind that I’ve ever experienced. The smaller – yet still extremely spacious location – gave the show a much more intimate feel. Retailers and vendors were fewer in number, but of a greater quality. The whole experience was centred around the fans meeting, and dressing up as, the characters and celebrities they love.
A Galaxy Of Stars
The guest list of the show is the best ever seen for an event of this kind in the U.K. In fact, I would dare say that it rivalled that of one of the world class conventions like SDCC. Every DC show that is on air had at least one representative and every celebrity that I met was fantastic. A few of them blew my mind with the warmth, humor and levels of genuine affection they showed the fans.
Over the next few days DC Comics News will be publishing conversations from the panels for the forthcoming Constantine Animated Series, Arrow, DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow and Supergirl, and several exclusive interviews. Our sister site Dark Knight News will host the report on the celebrity Q&A panel for Gotham, and will also feature unique one on one interviews with three of its stars, which will be available there first!
