There’s been some big news surrounding the Supergirl team this past week with series co-creator Ali Adler departing the series as showrunner. Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner will be stepping up to take her place alongside co-creator Andrew Kreisberg. Adler will be staying on as consultant for the show as well as consulting on CW’s reboot of Dynasty which is believed to be part of her overall deal with CBS TV Studios.

In other cast news, Katie McGrath (Lena Luthor) will become a series regular in season 3 however unfortunately Floriana Lima (Maggie Sawyer) will not be returning as a regular (Although she will still be around) which throws up a question mark regarding that proposal…

Season 2 certainly upped its game with the introduction of Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman which for me was one of the highlights so I’m personally very excited to see a new Kryptonian villain enter the fold, as it was revealed that a new Kryptonian would be joining the show and after much speculation we now know for certain that Supergirl’s new foe will be Reign!

It has also been confirmed that Odette Anabelle (Pure Genius) has been cast in this villainous role as Reign, who’ll have a different look to that of the comic version.

“Greg (Berlanti) and I have wanted to work with Odette for years,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg in a statement. “We are beyond excited to have her join our cast in the scary, powerful and heartbreaking role of Reign.”

The character Reign was created by Michael Green, Mike Johnson and Mahmud Asrar. Her story began in Supergirl vol. 1: The Last Daughter of Krypton.

We’ll have more news surrounding season 3 as it becomes available.

Supergirl will be returning for its third season on Monday, October 9th.
