Summary

“SUPERMAX” part two! It’s a clash of incredible power as Superwoman and Supergirl struggle to contain the might of Maxima! But with Maxima’s origin revealed, and a startling new villain looming on the horizon, do our heroes actually need to save Maxima…or be saved by her?

Positives

This book gives the reader a different view of the character that some might know as Clark Kent’s high school crush as it elevates her within the canon, borrowing from the Smallville tv show, allowing this character to be more than a background character, or as someone who knows the alter ego but not the superhero side, something the creators and every writer who has written within this universe have mastered. Another excellent thing about this book, is how this world works around the mythos of Superman, featuring all his supporting characters, but does not show him once. The last good thing about this book so far, is the mystery of John Henry’s nephew, a storyline which would not normally show up in a Superman storyline.

Negatives

This book has a ton of exposition, which works, but can be tiresome if the reader is waiting for the payoff.

Verdict

Worth the buy to see all these characters in action, as they usually play background characters to Superman, but can hold their own as they have in this book.
