Summary

Oliver returns home and has to deal with his upcoming murder trial.

Positives

I like the cover by Jamal Campbell. The rain looks great and sets a nice mood for the book.

Campbell’s work, both on the cover and inside the book, is great. His coloring really stands out to me; it’s a very bright book in certain scenes with Ollie but effectively dark and moody when it’s on the villains. It’s a gorgeous issue.

Getting Ollie out of Star City for a while was a smart move because it allowed the city to fully turn into what Broderick planned without his interference. I liked seeing this new status quo and how separated Star City seems to be from the rest of the world. It reminds of “No Man’s Land” in that way.

Oliver and Dinah’s reunion is sweet. I like that the two are fairly mature about it, despite their disagreements before Ollie left. They’ve both been through hell, in the Green Arrow book and Metal, so it was nice for them just to be happy to see the other.

I like how much Emi gets to do. She’s the only person, besides Kate, taking the trial seriously and doing things about it. I’m also happy that Percy isn’t taking the easy way out with the trial since they know Wendy is alive. That’s a solution to immediately clear Ollie’s name but Percy adds a clever wrinkle to this.

A couple of characters make surprising returns and I’m excited to see where that leads in upcoming issues.

Negatives

There are no negatives worth mentioning in this issue.

Verdict

This is a great issue. The art is beautiful. I like the status quo of the city and the situation Oliver is in. It’s a fun and interesting start to this new arc. I highly recommend reading it.
