Writer: Garth Ennis

Artist: Mauricet

Summary

Using a giant mallet, the President has caved in a man’s skull on national television—and that’s not even the strangest thing to happen today. As War Pig One spreads the effects of Unstabilium across the world, Dick Dastardly and Muttley Muller are the only ones who know it has to be stopped…and one of them’s a dog! It’s time these two soldiers stopped giving a pup about rules and found a way to get back Stateside, but Air Force General Harrier has other ideas.

Positives

Right away with this issue, the dilemma the presidency is dealing with is both hilarious and unbelievable, a little too true to life in our current political climate as it had me wondering how our administration would react. Ennis is definitely flexing all his muscles in this book, as who would have thought that he would write humor as well as he does. Mauricet’s art straddles the lines between cartoonish and the style of Jock. Altogether, this issue was not only fun and irreverent, but moves at a steady pace.

Negatives

None, as both Ennis and Mauricet are at the top of their games in his book.

Verdict

Buy, as this story gets better with each issue. The creative team understands that the kids who grew up watching this duo are deserving of a book that matured with them.
