New Krypton Teaser Introduces The Legend of El

Another day another teaser, this time for Syfy’s upcoming Superman prequel Krypton. Like Titans, Krypton has been in development for some time with Titans making its debut in 2018 on DC’s new upcoming digital streaming service, while Krypton will air on Syfy, also in 2018

David S. Goyer, whose work includes Blade, The Dark Knight Trilogy and Man of Steel (to name a few) brings us Krypton, the prequel series that will follow the forbidden love of Seg-El and Lyta Zod in the years before the planet Krypton’s catastrophic destruction.

The story, while not based on the origins of the Man of Steel, will introduce some familiar faces, including Doomsday and Brainiac, who both play significant roles in the life of the future last son of Krypton as we follow the mythology behind the house of El.

From what we have seen so far, the show promises a far grittier Krypton from what we’ve seen on the CW’s Supergirl and more reminiscent of the opening to Man of Steel.

I for one was a little unimpressed when the show was originally announced. As a huge Superman fan, I have been chomping at the bit for a new Superman series, so announcements that following Supergirl we would be given Krypton I couldn’t help but feel a little cheated. However, my initial bias reactions aside, I am loving this concept and cannot wait for the series to air in 2018.

Bring on 2018!
