Have no fear true believers… Gotham City Sirens is still in development… at least if we believe what David Ayer has to say. The movie that is planning on bringing together the likes of Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy is not cancelled but rather it’s still being developed, along with some other DCEU movie projects, according to Suicide Squad Director David Ayer.

In an interview with Collider, Ayer was being asked about his upcoming Netflix-released movie, Bright, starring Suicide Squad alum Will Smith, when the conversation eventually led to upcoming DCEU projects he’s working on. Ayer responded by saying Sirens is “still in development” but wouldn’t give any more details than that.

In recent months, the DCEU has undergone a number of changes in the form of a reshuffling of projects, creators, and studio heads. It seemed as though Sirens, although not cancelled, was put on the back burner which had fans wondering if the movie would ever see the light of the day.

The commercially successful yet critically panned film Suicide Squad (correction: Academy Award Winning Suicide Squad) saw the debut of Margot Robbie as the beloved Harley Quinn, which then led to demand from fans for more of Robbie/Harley in future projects. One of those projects that was thrown around in Warner Bros meeting rooms was Gotham City Sirens, a movie idea based on a miniseries by Batman: The Animated Series legend Paul Dini.

The movie, according to initial reports, has the trio of femme fatales going up against Black Mask, a prominent villain from the Batman universe, as well as the rest of the seedy Gotham City criminal underworld. As of now there are no casting announcements for Poison Ivy and Catwoman, but Margot Robbie is expected to reprise her role as Harley Quinn.

Or will she? Since the announcement of Sirens, there have been various reports and rumors about a bevy of potential landing spots for Harley Quinn. We know that Suicide Squad 2 is still being developed as well as a potential Joker/Harley Quinn movie that has yet to receive a title. Of course, there is also the Scorsese-developed Joker origin film but no casting or story announcements have been made about that movie as of this writing.

There are many potential movies that can be made featuring Harley but we want to know which one you are most excited for. Sirens? Harley/Joker? Suicide Squad 2? Which one do you want to see the most? Let us know in the comment section!
