Just when you thought that Wally West aka Kid Flash had found his place aboard the Waverider on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, actor Keiynan Lonsdale announced this week he would be leaving the series. Further, he would not be returning to The Flash as a series regular.
Introduced on The Flash during Season Two, Lonsdale had spent three seasons alongside lead Grant Gustin as the new speedster before departing at the beginning of season four. Lonsdale claims the decision had to do with personal growth.
“I’ve changed a lot in the past year, Keiynan posted on Twitter. “[And] for infinite reasons my perspective on life and what I want from it is just completely different. Because of that, my heart told me it was the right time to continue my journey on an unknown path, and I’m so damn grateful to both shows for honoring and respecting me with that.”
But rest assured, Wally fans, this isn’t a complete exodus from the crew of The Waverider or Central City. Lonsdale further assured his followers that he would be around for “the new adventures, the only thing I can promise is magic.” That was a subtle nod to the change in direction for Legends, which will lean towards mystic threats and add supernatural rebel John Constantine (Matt Ryan) to the crew.
