Summary
Harley’s decided to take a vacation. Except her vacation takes to the lovely planet of Apokolips. After being head hunted by Granny Goodness herself, Harley’s holiday takes an unexpected turn.
Positives
Harley Quinn #45 is an issue that builds up tension, intensity, action and comedy with every panel. Humphries has done a fantastic job writing this issue. His version of Harley Quinn is almost the perfect blend of anti-hero and villain. Apokolips is almost the perfect place for Harley. She strives in the chaos of the planet. The only thing stopping it from being the perfect place, is the fact that Harley doesn’t do well with being told how to live her life.
I love the artwork in this issue too. It really matches what I feel the character of Harley Quinn encapsulates. To me she just really seems like one of the truest forms of a comic book character. Timms does a brilliant job at creating an environment that matches Quinn’s outlandish personality.
Negatives
The only thing I’ll say is that this story does seem a little bit forced. I was quite happy for Harley to have a vacation. She certainly deserves it after what she’s been through in recent comics. Give Harley a break!!
Verdict
Overall, this is a fantastic issue. The story is definitely one that I look forward to reading more. I’m curious to find out what Humprhies has planned for Quinn on the chaotic, fiery world of Apokolips.
