It’s been officially known for some time that Young Justice: Outsiders will launch on January 4th, 2019, via the DC Universe service. But once subscribers are done marking their calendars, they’ll also want to prepare for “expanded” versions of the first two seasons, a behind-the-scenes documentary series for the new Outsiders season, and a prequel comic book, too.

The documentary series, titled Making of Young Justice: Outsiders, will be giving DC Universe subscribers a dose of Young Justice during the week, as well, as they wait for new episodes to arrive each Friday. Check out the official details below:

DC Daily host and Young Justice: Outsiders voice talent Whitney Moore hosts a rare inside look at the production of the series. A production crew followed Whitney during the making of the most recent season resulting in five, 10-minute behind-the scenes episodes which will be released following the premiere, on Tuesdays starting on January 8. DC Daily is the daily news program that airs on DC UNIVERSE. DC hosts and talent share the latest news from the world of DC. Stay tuned for more information and previews coming soon on DC Daily.

You can also count on each Tuesday – starting December 4th – to bring Season 1 & 2 Enhanced Episodes running through the end of the month. These episodes will take fans back to rewatch past seasons, accompanied by “commentary, interviews and inside information from from a wide range of Young Justice experts” in both audio and video form. With the The Whelmed Podcast‘s Rich Howard, Emily Buza, and Neal Powell, DC talents Sam Humphries, Bernard Chang, James Tynion IV, and Mike Carlin, and Young Justice producers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti, and art director Phil Bourassa confirmed as part of the “enhanced” team, the trailer below shows how their insights will be delivered to subscribers weekly:

And just to make sure that Young Justice is encouraging fans to use the DC Universe service in all its multimedia channels, two 10-page chapters of a Young Justice: Outsiders prequel comic book will also be made available exclusively to subscribers. Written by Young Justice: Outsiders producer Greg Weisman with art by Christopher Jones, the comic chapters will be released on January 2nd and 3rd, ahead of the show’s launch on January 4th.  Check out the rest of the official press release below:

BURBANK, Calif. – NOVEMBER 27, 2018 – Few animated series have engendered the passionate following that Young Justice garnered in only two short seasons. Praised by critics and fans alike, the series makes its triumphant return on January 4 exclusively on DC UNIVERSE in the US.

Young Justice: Outsiders continues the story with our heroes still dealing with the events of season 2 while facing the new threat of metahuman teen trafficking and the intergalactic arms race for control of these super-powered youths. To get ready for the exciting new season members will have access to enhanced episodes from the first two seasons, new original prequel comic book chapters, and a behind-the-scenes documentary featuring DC Daily host and Young Justice voice talent, Whitney Moore.

“Young Justice: Outsiders epitomizes the kind of fan-first series that DC UNIVERSE can deliver directly to our members. The passion that surrounded this unique serial strongly points to the reason our direct-to-consumer service is a fan win,” said Sam Ades, senior vice president and general manager, DC Digital Services. “Not only does DC UNIVERSE provide a place for our creative talent to spread their wings, it provides a home for fan-favorite DC Super Heroes stories.”

Three episodes of Young Justice: Outsiders will premiere every Friday starting on January 4, and will continue through January 18. For the mid-season finale on January 25, four new episodes will debut. The show will return to DC UNIVERSE for the second half of the season with more new episodes in June 2019.

Young Justice: Outsiders is produced by Warner Bros. Animation. Brandon Vietti (Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman Doomsday) and Greg Weisman (Star Wars Rebels, Gargoyles) serve as producers. Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) is executive producer.

All Young Justice episodes are now exclusively available on DC UNIVERSE and are among the most viewed series for current members since the digital subscription service launched on September 15, 2018.
