Summary

Geo-Force and Halo become fast friends with the alien Forager and track down a possible lead on the missing princess of Markovia that may lead to a very deadly finale. The rest of the team figure out what to do with the new comers and if being a team is still even viable.

Positives

The Demon’s Head rises! With so many story lines coming to a head, it’s great to see old characters come back, especially one as interesting as Ra’s al Ghul. This episode was well balanced with both humor and action that left me wanting more. It felt more grounded in the roots of the show, and while I’ve enjoyed the new mature, darker theme, going a little backward was a great hat tip to the audience that has been loyal and following the show from its very inception.

Grayson leading the team again was great. Splintered, and failing missions, the team needs a new direction, especially with the looming threat of a desperate Light, and Ra’s secret new soldiers we will surely learn more about soon.

Negatives

A long time ago, I picked out a back lot comic with Black Spider on the cover fighting Batman. As I handed it to the clerk, his first words were “Is that Spider-Man fighting Batman?’. This same problem I’m sure will occur with the non-comic reading audience, as Black Spider is one of those characters that bounces the line of being a blatant rip off.

In this iteration of the character, at times it seemed almost like a mix between Deadpool and Spider-Man, especially with the revamped spider design. It’s great to see these non-mainstream characters make an appearance, however it’s always better to see them in new lights that give them their own identity in a new series.

Verdict

Who is the mysterious soldier standing by Ra’s? Could it be a new iteration of the Red Hood? Could we get some explanation to the League’s amnesia that still has a looming cloud on the series. It’s great we have slowly been peeling back the layers and revealing some, but not everything is keeping us all hooked. Even with all these new questions, most of the audience can’t wait for these major final reveals that will hopefully leave us all shocked.
