It’s been reported numerous times over the internet that WWE Legend and 16 time WWE World Champion John Cena is in talks to join James Gunn on his Suicide Squad reboot and now information has come to light as to just what character Cena would play in the film.

Casting rumors have surfaced that Cena will play Christopher Smith, AKA The Peacemaker in the James Gunn film.  The role of Peacemaker was originally intended for another former WWE Champion turned actor, Dave Bautista but was turned down by the actor due to scheduling conflicts.

The character of Christoper Smith was created in 1966 by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette for Charlton Comics before being acquired by DC Comics in the 1980s but hasn’t seen much comic book time since.  The character was originally designed as a pacifist diplomat that is so committed to peace in the world that he is willing to use brutal force in order to achieve his goal.  Smith is a super-jacked marksman who specializes in advance military weapons systems and since Cena has proven in more than one film, including the recent Transformers spinoff Bumblebee, and has shown he has a knack for black humor which will be perfect with Gunn’s directing style.

Cena joins Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang) and Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) and new comer Idris Elba, who’s role is currently unconfirmed.

The Suicide Squad begins production this fall.
