Batman celebration sdcc2019 dc comics newsAs part of the 80th year of the Batman, DC Comics hosted a dedicated panel here at SDCC2019 to broadly discuss and celebrate the Dark Knight. The Dark Knight continues to be one of the most iconic and popular superheroes of all time and we heard from of DC’s heavy hitters on what Batman means to them and how the character has played a part in their lives.

The Batman panel was hosted by Tiffany Smith with the likes of Tom King, Scott Snyder and Greg Cupello all giving the fans a deep insight into how Batman had impacted them both personally and professionally. The panel more broadly also provided an insight into what is coming with Batgirl, her story and a new villain that she is up against. Batgirl has a deep struggle on her hands.

The panel delved into Detective Comics, and with that it was intriguing to hear the back stories of how everyone on the panel was introduced to Batman in their childhood. Scott Snyder provided some deep insights into his journey and his work with Cupello paying homage to their partnership and the dedication they have had in building the stories we have grown to love over the years.

Scott Snyder’s inspiration is none other that Adam West, and hearing that story was both fascinating and insightful. Here are the key highlights from that panel.
