Brian & Seth, Together Again

DC writer Brian Michael Bendis has announced a return to late night TV. No, it’s not to write late night, although that would be in keeping with his “expect the unexpected” style.

On Instagram, Bendis announced he’s making a second appearance on NBC’s Late Night With Seth Myers July 25th. His last appearance was on January 20, 2015 to promote Marvel Comics’ Secret Wars event and tease his Sony series Powers. Powers was based on his independent comic series.

What’s The Big Deal About Brian?

Throughout his career, Brian has been a part of landmark moments in comics. He not only revitalized Spider-Man and Daredevil in the early 2000s, but also broke boundaries by creating Jessica Jones and the most recent webslinger, Miles Morales. He also wrote Ultimate Spider-Man up until his departure from Marvel in 2017. But Bendis’s mark remains on Marvel through characters like Miles and Jessica. Miles’s adventures continue in a second comic series and he had a headlining role in Sony’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse animated film. Jessica Jones, meanwhile, has just completed a three-season run on Netflix starring Krysten Ritter.

His current claim to fame is head writer at DC on the SupermanSuperman titles after spending years at Marvel. Since taking over The Man of Steel’s adventures, he has established a new threat known as Leviathan, and is the focus of the current DC Event. He has established that Krypton’s destruction was orchestrated by an outside party. He also aged Jonathan Kent aka Superboy to teen years and added layers to Clark’s relationship with Jor-El.

“We have a lot to talk about,” Brian joked. “So much so that they’ve asked me to also do the late-night podcase too. [So] there will be a longer [conversation] to go with the regular appearance.”

Expect the unexpected, remember?
