What do actors Jonah Hill and Jeffrey Wright have to do with The Batman? The film has been in development for so long that it’s easy to lose track of what’s fact and what’s rumor. We know Matt Reeves is directing, we know Robert Pattinson is playing the Dark Knight, and we know Warner Bros has planned a 2021 release date.
Now comes word that Hill and/or Wright may be involved. According to Variety, Hill is in negotiations to join the film in a “villain role.” Justin Kroll, the story’s author, also added via Twitter that Hill would play either the Riddler or the Penguin… if a deal can be struck.
In other Gotham news, the Hollywood Reporter reports that Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) is being eyed for the role of Commissioner Gordon. This would come along with his role as The Watcher in the Disney+ streaming series What If?
A good amount of mystery still swirls around this project: Will it be one film or three? Who are the villains? Will Robin be included? Stay tuned for more on Jonah Hill, Jeffrey Wright, and whatever further Bat-developments still await.
The Batman is scheduled to begin filming in late 2019 or early 2020.
