The Black Label imprint is journeying to all-new worlds and bringing the fantasy genre back into the spotlight and into the hands of DC’s readers!
The fantasy genre has proven a lucrative arena in which to explore stories and expand on world-building adventures! It’s what has made such a hit out of epic works like Game of Thrones and inspired the imaginations of “Dungeons & Dragons” gamers for generations. Now DC is taking a page from the fandom and venturing into new areas of high stakes with the Black Label release of The Last God #1 hits newsstands on October 30. It’s promising to reignite interest in the genre and elevate its appeal, broadening the publishing palette of the comics giant.
Book One of the Fellspyre Chronicles bu Phillip Kennedy Johnson will follow two generations of heroes, a fellowship, that will face a threat — although 30 years have passed. DC is promising a “high octane, no-holds-barred dark fantasy epic.” Each issue is artfully crafted by Riccardo Federici with colors by Sunny Gho with Dean White. “The Last God is an exciting new chapter for DC,” Mark Doyle, Executive Editor for DC has said. “It’s an epic, original story set in a bloody high-fantasy world. I cannot wait for people to read this book.”
