During this year’s New York Comic Con, I attended the DC Universe press reception where the wonderful people at DC Comics put on a fantastic presentation, detailing some of what’s coming in year two of the service. Some of what was included in this presentation was their new Community section and upcoming, week-long event, “Community Week”, the reveal of the next three DC animated films, an update on Stargirl, and much more. But one thing I thought was very intriguing was their latest fan-engagement initiative… DCYou Unscripted!
Through a partnership with Ideas United, DCYou Unscripted will give fans the opportunity to pitch their own show ideas directly to DC.
DCYou Unscripted is open for entries now through November 18th from any Ideas United network member over 18 and a US resident. You can easily and quickly apply to join the iU network. And throughout the submission process, you can submit unscripted/reality video series ideas ranging from game shows to game play to how-to’s. The top 10 entrants chosen will score a trip to Los Angeles to spend a day with industry pros to hone their ideas — and pitch their concepts to a panel of DC executives and other heavy hitters in the entertainment industry. Three finalists will then move on, and get their unscripted pilots produced by Ideas United, with one final entrant getting their very own series on DC Universe!
Here are the rules:
-Original non-narrative unscripted show ideas only. All narrative interpretations of DC’s characters will be disqualified. Don’t submit that Batman, Superman, or Wonder Woman story you’ve always wanted to tell.
-You must be an active and approved member of Ideas United’s network.
-You must be 18 years of age or older.
-You must be a legal resident of the United States of America.
-You must complete the Submission Form and submit a Creative Component.
-By entering, you agree to the Official Rules including the granting of rights and indemnities to Ideas United and DC Universe.
-See the Official Rules for all official guidelines and rules.
Additional submission details, program information, and highlights over the coming months can be found at the DCYou Unscripted website, DCUunscripted.com.
