With the “Crisis On Infinite Earths” crossover event rapidly approaching, the Bat-fans tuning in are undoubtedly champing at the bit to see Kevin Conroy playing Bruce Wayne for the first time in the live action realm. After voicing Batman for more than 25 years in animation and video games, we’ll finally see him play the timeless icon in the flesh.
From what we can tell, Conroy’s Bruce Wayne will take cues from the Kingdom Come version known to comic book readers. This would make sense, especially when you consider how Brandon Routh is already playing Kingdom Come Superman. Take one look at the photo found below and you’ll likewise be persuaded.
Believe it or not, it sounds like Kevin will be going even darker than he did as an aged Bruce Wayne on Batman Beyond, telling Entertainment Weekly the following:
“In this, I explore a lot of [the] dark corners of Bruce Wayne. But they’re different than the ones I explored on Batman Beyond.”
I guess this should somewhat satisfy the desires long held by Conroy’s hardcore fans, and it seems the notion of him making the leap from voice acting to do so isn’t lost on him, as he added:
“There’s a real loyalty among the [Batman: The Animated Series] fanbase and an interest in seeing me do it on-camera as well. So I think they thought this was an opportunity to take advantage of that interest.”
“Crisis on Infinite Earths” kicks off with Supergirl, on Sunday, December 8th on The CW. Expect to see Conroy show up during Batwoman‘s portion of the crossover on Monday, December 9th.
