The war comes to Metropolis! In the latest arc to shake up the status quo for the Man of Steel, the blockbuster team of Brian Michael Bendis and John Romita Jr. are putting the “action” back in Action Comics!

It’s been a banner year for Superman and after taking the major leap to reveal his alter ego/secret identity to the world — in “The Year of the Villain” nonetheless — the greatest hero on the planet has opened up his home town and turned it into Ground Zero! In the upcoming new arc “Metropolis Doom” which launches in Action Comics #1018 and is under the guileful eye of Brian Michael Bendis with art from the legendary John Romita, Jr. the Man of Steel’s ever-increasing list of enemies has set their sites on bringing the battle to Superman’s home town.

It’s going to take Superman along with the combined membership of the Justice League and Young Justice to fend off the takeover of Metropolis from the merciless Invisible Mafia, the nefarious Lex Luthor and his cohorts in the Legion of Doom. This is promising to be on the new year’s greatest showdowns as every major DC hero and villain converge in an effort to subvert Superman after his epic revelation. The secret is out and it looks like the Last Son of Krypton’s greatest fears has come true — everyone in his circle is a target for revenge!

Here’s a “First Look” at the upcoming series arc “Metropolis Doom” appearing in Action Comics #1018 — #1020:

Action Comics #1018 is written by Brian Michael Bendis with art by John Romita, Jr., Klaus Janson, and Brad Anderson. The issue hits stand on January 1 and retail for $3.99.
