Green Lantern ‘s 80th Anniversary celebration kicks off with a 100-page issue hitting the stands this May.

Green Lantern 80th Anniversary – What’s the Big Deal About A Ring From Space?

Since the 1940 debut of Alan Scott, created by Martin Nobdell and Bill Finger, the mantle has burned bright from the Golden to the Modern Age. And, thanks to DC publisher, Julius Schwartz, the Silver Age saw its evolution from magic to science fiction through successor Hal Jordan. Further, the doors had flung open with Jordan to a galaxy-wide Green Lantern Corps. The property broke down racial barriers with the introduction of John Stewart at the hands of Denny O’Neill and Neal Adams in the Green Lantern/Green Arrow series. It has gone on to be at the heart of several DC-wide crossovers such as The Sinestro Corps War, Blackest Night, and more.

For eighty years, its mythology has evolved and changed, and this issue will bring its best and brightest to celebrate the legacy of that green ring and its oath: In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night, No Evil Shall Escape My Sight. Let Those Who Worship Evil’s Might, Beware My Power – Green Lantern’s Light!

What To Expect In This One-Shot

From the minds of iconic GL creators Geoff Johns, Ivan Reis, James Tynion IV, Peter J. Tomasi,  Denny O’Neil, Mike Grell, and others will come stories featuring fan favorite Lanterns: Scott, Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, and more!

To further celebrate Green Lantern’s 80th will come variant covers from DC’s classic and modern artists: Nicola Scott, Doug Mahnke, Neal Adams, David Finch, Reis, and even the legendary team of Jim Lee and Scott Williams!
