The CW’s The Flash family has suffered a tragic loss.
Actor Logan Williams, best known for portraying young Barry Allen, has passed away at the age of 16.

Williams has been a part of the show since its pilot, appearing as 11-year-old Barry witnessing his mother’s murder. He then made numerous appearances in flashbacks throughout the first season, and made his final in the second season premiere. He had then gone on to have roles on Supernatural and the Hallmark TV Movie When Calls The Heart. According to Williams’ rep, his mother, Marlyse, is “totally devastated.”
Series lead Grant Gustin released this statement on his Instagram, along with a picture with Williams and costar Jesse L. Martin:
“Just hearing the news about the passing of Logan Williams. This picture was early in the filming of The Flash pilot in 2014. I was so impressed by not only Logan’s talent, but his professionalism on set. My thoughts and prayers will be with him and his family during what I’m sure is an unimaginably difficult time for them. Please keep Logan and his family in your thoughts and prayers during what has been a strange and trying time for us all. Sending love to everyone.”
Other series’ cast members have shared their thoughts. John Wesley Shipp, who portrayed Henry Allen in the pilot onwards, expressed being “heartsick” at the news. “He was 100% committed to playing young Barry Allen, and we missed him once we moved past that part of the story. Love and compassion to Logan’s family and friends in your grief.”
Michelle Harrison, who portrayed Barry’s mother, Nora, also took to Instagram and directed her words to Williams himself:
“Dear Logan. We are so saddened to hear of your sudden passing. Our hearts and prayers are with your family and parents who we grieve along with. Our #flash family met Logan on the pilot episode of @cwtheflash, and were immediately taken with your gentle smile, your professionalism, and your big heart. Rest in Peace sweet soul.”
The SAG-AFTRA foundation tweeted “We are heartbroken at the loss of young @sagaftra member & @TheCW #TheFlash actor Logan Williams. We send our love and condolences to his friends and family.”
When Calls The Heart costar Mitchell Kummen, who played Williams’s older brother, also expressed deep sadness. “We had so much fun on the set[. Loved] hanging out with you. [You] were such a talent. Sending love to your mom.”
At this time, no cause of death has been revealed.
